...i still don't know where i am going next, but i am
i'm so relieved. i thought i was going to have to work through the 13th of march. but we were able to wrap everything up early, and now i get to leave today.
that means i have three weeks where i will still be getting paid, since the official closing date of the company is April 1st. but i will not have to go in to work for those three weeks. now i can take some time to regroup, relax and breathe before i have to go back to work again {provided that i find another job}.
this is nice, because i will be getting the smallest severance package there is, as i had only worked at this company for less than two years before they announced they were closing the doors. i will have been here one month short of getting two pay periods of severance. if any of us worked for under two years, we only receive one pay period. so with these three extra weeks, it will feel like i'm getting two and a half pay periods of severance.
i plan to use the time to look for another job. although the big picture out there may not look so great, i am trying to be hopeful. i'm sure there will be times of doubt—there have been already. but Spring will be here in two weeks. and after that, Summer. today i am grateful for an extra week off. i am hopeful for some good changes.
i have feelings of bitter/sweet about this—my last day. but i am hopeful, too.
