my drifting mind

today was cold and rainy, and as i have an awful bladder infection and was in so much pain, all i wanted to do was take a warm bath to ease my pain and take the chill off. as i sat back with the lights off and the filtered, gray light of the outdoors {which was actually rather dim} coming through the single window of my bathroom, i could see just enough to make out the reflection in the tub of everything that was in the room--the up side down window panes framed by simple long, white curtains that no longer seemed to hang. the suspended-from-the-ceiling {or was it mounted-to-the-floor?} plants that thrive in the morning sun and humid showers. the heavy miniature bird bath with its stone-like finish that seemed to have become weightless. the bottles of eucalyptus-spearmint body wash and lotion whose cylinder-shaped bodies lined the tiled ledge above the tub. the moss green towels that were merely a shade of gray in this light. everything looked better in the reflection than it did in reality. cleaner. simpler. prettier. softer. moodier. like i was in a bathroom not my own, rather a bathroom in some quiet, remote bed and breakfast inn somewhere in the deep green hills of scotland. it was all up side down. but it was better to me than the right side up version. better than the actual. it made me want to spin around so that the latter was on the bottom and scotland was on top... for reflection to be reality.

Hi Georgia,

Thanks for the awesome compliments about me and my blog. They're much appreciated. I enjoy your blog as well. I enjoy your styles of photography and diction.

Sorry to hear that you have a bladder infection. :( Never had one before, but I'm sure it's not something I'd want to have. xD

You're lucky it's cold and rainy! :O It's just been hot and dry here all summer. I'd prefer for it to be rainy and cold. But those times are coming soon with autumn rolling in.

I agree with you on how things look better when reflected on water. The distortion of images in water are beautiful. Reflections on the water always remind me of paintings...

Anyway, hope that your bladder feels better soon. Have a nice night...or early morning. xD It's 3:47am in California right now.

Stay in the bath until the water get cold, when the temp of the water is worse that the pain of your bladder and then fill up the bath with fresh hot water and keep the reflection of Scotland flickering.

Oh shoot - the interview goes well, and then an infection bites you in the bladder. Those little suckers hurt like the devil. Drink lots of water, take your antibiotics and it will pass, but I'm sure not quickly enough for comfort.

Oh, get better soon! My daughter has had bladder infections and the doctor says cranberry juice is just the ticket. She says so, too.

You are SO right about reflections being better than the real deal. I think that's why I photograph so many of them! It sounds like a great idea for a post - thank you, and get well!

ouch.
I hope you are feeling better today, Georgia.
And the dreamy quality you've lent to this photograph is pure magic. Not to mention dreaming in the bathtub.
Enjoy your weekend and take care of yourself.

Hi, Georgia,
I just published this photo on my blog No Static.

Is it OK if I post your pictures from time to time?

Great work.

hello honey bunny - I'm so sorry you have a nasty infection and hope it's better soon. take good care of you.

isn't it funny how the mind drifts when we're so relaxed. sometimes I do wonder if we're real and not just figments of someone else's imagination.
