a glimpse

spring-time in chicago

today the sun shined brightly and brought with it a teasing warmth. the temperatures held way above freezing. gray was nowhere to be found. it felt amazing! really. it was so good for me. it gave me a glimpse of brighter days. warmer months. new seasons. and thoughts like these...

when spring gets here...
i'm gonna open all the windows
and open all the doors
and let in the fresh air
that melts away complacency.
i'm gonna slough off these winter skins
and let my feet feel wind again.
i think i'll cut bangs into my hair
and i'm sure to paint my toes.
i will find the perfect hat
and bid adieu to winter's snow.
ruffles will be worn
beneath my favorite dotted cardigan.

i'll change the bed to fresh white linens
with extra pillows to cradle me while i nap.
i'm going to clear out all the clutter
that's had me trapped for far too long.

and i'll think in pink and perfume
and listen to vivaldi all day long.
if you listen closely,
you'll hear me whistling along.

and you?
what will you do when spring gets here?

I too will bring in pink and flowers and wonderful music. I will clean my windows so that the sun can stream in. Wash away that winter film. I will dress my house in light colors and toss colorful pillows around. I will paint outside with easel in hand and the sun on my back. Ahhh!! Spring!

I'm with Dani - I think I'll come visit you! Reading your words actually made me feel better inside. I long for these same things. In fact, I actually opened the moonroof in my car 2 days ago, even though it was only 30 degrees. It just felt good to get fresh air! Thanks for your post, Georgia.

Open the windows and let all the refreshing air into the house - having all the windows open makes me so happy :)

I'm with you georgia. I can't wait to work the soil for flowers and fresh vegetables. I can't wait for the smell of fresh cut lawns and lilacs. I can't wait to pack away the snow shovels go for a bike ride. I can't wait for spring.

mmm... i think i will be here ... reading your wonderful words and having my breath taken away by beautiful images ...

i love these itty bitty buds blooming so beautifully against the rich tones of the building ... really lovely, georgia!

and i love your words ...

first thing that makes my heart pitter patter in the spring is hanging sheets out on the line ...

opening the windows ...

and sitting on the step sipping tea ...

and digging in the dirt of course!

and and earthworms in puddles ...

and, sigh ... that first rain and the wonderful smells as it washes away winter ...

whoa! got carried away! see what you did?

hee hee ... thanks for the inspiration ...
