for the second weekend in a row, i was able to join my sister in chicago at a really great local coffee shop called "lovely"—and, lovely it is. they also happen to have exceptionally delicious coffee. this last time i went, it was extremely cold—near the zero-degree mark, and the wind chill made it feel even colder. lovely is in an old drafty building with the high tin ceilings and wood floors. it's a very elongated shop, so we sat as far away from the windows as we could to keep warm. as we sat, i faced the windows and after thawing my fingers by holding my coffee cup for a while, i noticed that the windows looked really cool with the frost and condensation and the bright blue wintery sky behind. it was just such a neat effect, that i had to get up and take pictures. i was not sure if they would turn out or seem as dreamy as it looked in real life, but they did, and i was very proud of my little canon for picking up the mood! the first one is my favorite, but here are some more.

brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, I hope you are staying safe and warm. It's below freezing here so I can't imagine how cold you guys really feel.
Great shots, you brought me there.

it really does look like my kind of place...
oh I so wish I had been at the table with you girls...love the multiple shots with different angles ~ i like the last one with 2 lights and the blue gray really showing
i ride my bike over there all the time during the summer.
Cool! I love the shimmery abstract reflections in the glass, the ice, the lights...beautiful!
You these things, I have read twice, for me, this is a relatively rare phenomenon!
