 and thought i would try my hand at like poetry myself.


i don't know what you were
before
winter
came and silenced you

but i can see you were
beautiful

this will last
only
ha
half
of
halfha
halfhalf
of
o
n
e
time
around the sun

soon
you will be beautiful
again

i was not sure whether or not my title is clear on conveying that i wrote this. it almost sounds like i am saying Cummings wrote it. but i did not want to put my name at the end, either.

maybe i'll add it just in case.

In poetry workshops in college we had to submit imiatation poems constantly and it was always a favorite exercise of mine. Mimicking Robert Lowell was the most fun. But Cummings' style is definetly worth immulating and you did a fantastic job with spinning your own creation out of his style.
"...before winter silenced you" caught my attention and made me wonder who the poem is about, of course.
