screen capture . . . a view of the gulf

i took this photo in florida through the screened window of our condo. at first, i was disappointed that i could not get a good shot of this gorgeous view because of the screen that was on the window. but then i was looking at the shot on the LCD screen, and thought, "hey, this might not be so bad after all."

i was so pleased with how it turned out, but even more excited when i saw two posts over the last couple of days {here and here} on blogs i frequent that mentioned the work of photographer, matthew tischler—specifically his screen photos. i had not heard of him before, and was delighted to see a professional purposefully achieving this wonderful effect.

check out his amazing screen series.

Interesting effect - it almost looks like the image is printed on linen. I love the light in this photo! More Florida photos, please. :)

beautiful Georgia. it gives it that surreal and soft effect, much like another texture.

I love it. And Char's right, it's like an added texture without all the Photoshopping :)

That is sooo funny, I was getting ready to point you in his direction! haha

I love how the sun is casting a warm glow on the building and how the shadowy, subtle foreground really amplifies the main subject.

I like the shot through the screen. It would make a great series. I've really got to remember to bookmark you when I get home - I forget to come until a see a link somewhere and I've missed a whole bunch of wonderful images. I'm sending myself an email right now!

I took a photo of our dog's curious face eyeing me through the window screen the other day and just loved it. This scene pans out even better because of the screen, too. p.s. Thanks so much for stopping by my blog this morning and leaving, as always, a tender and thoughtful comment. & I was sorry to read about your father. I imagine grief comes and goes; some days worse than others. I hope you found something to make you smile today. Enjoy your weekend. :)

I adore the textured feel to this, it is even better knowing you did not purposely do this. Great photo...not that I ever expect or get anything less from you.
HOpe that your weekend was wonderful

i really really love this. you know what it does for me? the view through the screen takes me there and allows me to feel the breeze from the ocean and smell the salty air. i love it.
i have a few of my own favorites that i have taken through screen doors. i will have to check out the screen series you linked us to. thanks for sharing.

I like it, I think it looks like the grainy home movies from the 1960's. I'll check out the site you mentioned. Just thinking here, why couldn't you just carry around a screen and shoot pics through it? I might try that. Sounds kinda goofy, though.

Ooooh, I just looked at the 'screen series'. They are amazing--what an interesting effect, especially with the water/rain on the screen. You've added some much new stuff on your site, I'm going to be here for a long time...
