feeding frenzy

i thought i would take a break from the toddler photos and mix it up with something a little different. {although these shots were taken at the same location on, the same day as the toddler shoot.}

while chasing the little girl {in my previous two posts} to try to get in front of her for some face shots, i noticed that the zoo keeper of the petting zoo we were at was walking over to feed the ducks and geese in the pond. those ducks and geese must know when it's feeding time, because before the woman with the food even made it to the pond, those birds were flocking quickly to the water's edge for some chow.

they were so cute as they waddled and/or paddled quickly over...

but cuteness soon turned to a fast and furious fight for whatever that woman was holding in her hand or tossing on the ground and in the water. soon there was pure pandemonium.

not a one was still, but it made for some really cool looking pictures. lots of movement. ethereal almost.

i love how there little feet and beaks were poking out everywhere in vibrant yellows and orange.

and i adore the color of the water in these. i did not even have to do any color enchancement on these. it's just how the water actually was.

it was such a whirlwind of activity, i almost forgot i was there to take pictures of my friend's little girl! but i'm glad i got the shots.

all done eating. peace has been restored.

{pssst... speaking of birds, i know some of you like birds as much as i do, and some of you occasionally like to visit my jorjah-b blog. others of you may like edgar allen poe-esque things. and probably all of you like to win things. {that just about covers everyone.} so for those of you who fall under any of those categories, i am doing a give-away of something bird-related over there. psst... a little birdie told me.}

I have some pictures like this but with eagles. The ducks and geese fly away here but the eagles look at you and say "I can take ya!" so they do not fly away just continue to eat everything in their path. =]

These images look so painterly. Love the color and motion you captured.

The snow white geese are gorgeous. All that motion and white wings in that blue green water is lovely. I took photographs of orange leaves floating in the same murky greenish blue water yesterday and love them. Off to see these toddler photos and Jorjah-B. I didn't have internet access for three days and I felt, oddly, cut-off from the world. :)

i love the activity in these shots and i agree that water in the fifth shot is gorgeous. at first i thought you were applying some sort of filter to these. They almost have a feeling of polaroid emulsion manipulation -very cool.
