she... me... i... him

isaac and grandma_11

she failed me. it's why i know i'll fail him.

isaac and grandma_12

i made mistakes. it's how i know he'll make them too.

isaac and grandma_10

i trusted her. it's why he knows he can trust me as well.

isaac and grandma_7

she entertained me. i will also do my best to delightfully entertain him.

isaac and grandma_9

she has comforted me. it's why i'll always offer him the same.

isaac and grandma_6

she set me on the straight and narrow. my prayer is that i will lead him on that same path.

isaac and grandma_4

she gave me countless hugs and kisses. i've already given {and will continue to give} boundless affection to him.

isaac and grandma_2

she has taught me to respect others. this will also be one of my greatest goals in regards to what i want to teach him.

isaac and grandma_1

she did her best to always listen and will be the first to admit that she is still learning how to listen in the best way she can. may i always listen to him... patiently, openly, fully.

isaac and grandma_3

she is as flawed as they come {as all of us are}, but she has done so much and sacrificed so much for her children, because that is part of love {the biggest part, in my opinion}. i would sacrifice anything for him for the rest of my days, because that is how much i love him.

i am blessed to have a mother and to be a child. i am thankful to be a mother and to have a child.

these are among my most treasured photos of isaac to date.

it's precious to watch him come to recognize his grandma more and more as they get to spend more time together.

i get the sense that he fulfills a special need for my widowed mom... a longing to love and be loved {though there are already many others she loves and that love her}.

and i know she holds a special place in his heart... there is just something about the love of a grandma that is like no other.

these were taken during her last day-trip out to visit us.

he had just woken from a nap, and was so mellow and sweet.

i had to get my camera, because i had a feeling those tender minutes would translate to pixels in the most endearing way.

i was right.

grandma loves you, isaac.

isaac loves you, mama.

thank you for coming to see us from time to time.

By far one of the most beautiful blog posts I've read! So tender and truthful...it makes me long for my mama (she passed away in 2009) and for the days (now long past) when my girls were babies:)
