nurture

nurture
remember this little guy? from my post back in november? guess what! he'll be going home from the hospital very soon, and tomorrow, i will be attending the baby shower that is being held for him and his parents.

he is such a trooper, as are his mom and dad. i am so proud of them all, and i am so honored to be going to the baby shower. also, i'm super-excited about the gift i am giving them, because i know my friend chris will love it. {or at least i hope she will.} i'm going to blog about it on jorjah-b tomorrow.

today on jorjah-b, i did a blog post about the design of little jack's birth announcement. chris {jack's mom } let me design and create them, and i was very honored to do so. it was my second baby announcement design so far. i enjoy doing them very much, and the two i have done have been for dear friends, so it means so much more to me.

anyway, pop over there to see a current picture of this precious little guy {taken by his photographer mom }. see how much he's grown and how sweet his little face is. you'll be glad you did.

you can also see more photos she took of him over the past several months on her photo blog, vivid.

about this photo:
this was my favorite picture that i took when i went to visit him shortly after he was delivered. today, i softened it and resubmitted it to the one word project flickr pool for shutter sisters, as the word for the month is "nurture"

i can't think of a better example of a sight of nurturing. this baby's mom and dad have been there at the hospital every day, tirelessly, to nurture him and help him grow with their needed touch. it has been an amazing blessing to watch his growth and transformation... and theirs.

Hey Georgia, pass along this tip to them. Since my preemie was still pretty small when he came home, I took a tuck in a soft front carrier so I wouldn't lose him in it. Then I strapped him to my chest and kept him there is a pouch, next to my heart, so he could spend a little more time "gestating." No one told me to do it, it just seemed obvious. And he fared very well. Gained three pounds in his first three weeks out of the hospital. Was talking by 9 months old (bird, cat, dog, mama, dada, bye-bye) even though he'd been two months early.

So incredibly sweet and fragile and vulnerable...he is lucky to have so many who care for him and will help him to grow strong. The announcement is lovely. I will send nurturing thoughts his way...
