sneaking a peek

DSC_0476-bw

i'm not sure how i'll ever get through them all, but i snapped about three thousand shots for an engagement photo-shoot last friday. if you think that's a lot of photos, you're right. but let me explain two things...

one) we had the most unpredictable conditions... extremely windy in downtown chicago with waves crashing up against the water's edge where we were shooting for much of the day.

two) i've read that it's a good practice to take multiple shots of each picture you want or are trying to get, just in case someone's eyes are closed or their hair or clothing gets blown in front of their face... which happened many times on this day.

put those two things together, and you have grounds for taking a whole lot of pictures. and that's just what i did.

though it will take me days and days to get through processing them all, i have come upon a few shots that i am smitten with so far. it was not at all difficult to photograph my friend, heather, and her fiancé, rob. they were so comfortable in front of the camera... perhaps because they know me well? but i felt like it was the other way around, too. i was so comfortable photographing them, and i know it's because i know them well. not just know them well... but consider them among my best and closest friends.

what a pleasure it was to take pictures for them to celebrate their recent engagement after a four-year courtship. i can't wait until their wedding. weddings are lovely events to begin with. but add two very beautiful people to the center of that wedding {and i don't just mean beautiful externally as is evident in photos of them}, and you know you are in the presence of something so special and something truly meant to be. that is why i was so honored to take their pictures this weekend.

but enough on that... 'cause there is so much more to come, so i'll save the rest of my words for the rest of their photos.

in the mean time, here are just a few more.

do they look like they're in love or what?? there were times when i was taking their picture where i felt like they were not even aware i was there. and that is actually how i prefer it. how adorable are they?

yes... i know these people. so yes... it made it easy. but i really think i could get used to this. i love to photograph people. i can't wait until my next engagement shoot!!

thank you for the honor and opportunity, heather and rob!!

Hi there Georgia. How are you, mister B and little Isaac holding up? Gosh the little one is getting bigger and bigger. Woowzers he's such a cutie.

And your photoshoot is stunningly beautiful. You did a great job.
Al your latest photo's have this theme kind of thing. colorwise. Wonderful just amazing.

Well send out some heat this way puleaasee. We had the most crappy summer ever. Next week the boys will be in school again and all of a sudden the sun descides to pop up by that time. ugh. so not fair.

well gal hope you're doing okay and I'll keep on track with blogging again.
Hugs for now and be all well.

Perfect shots...especially like the first one, and the fact that these are in black and white is unique and lovely!

These are beautiful!!!!! I love them in B&W. Do you do your own processes or do you have actions you've gotten from somewhere else?

can't wait for you to see them all, heather! your being such a photogenic couple is making it VERY difficult to choose which ones i like best!!!... for i like them all!

you are very welcome. it was my honor and pleasure, indeed! thank you for having faith in me and asking me to do it. it's a big responsibility that i am honored you thought i could handle. HUGS!

thank you, kimberly! i have to say... i was a little bit happy that it was so windy that day. it made it difficult to get some shots. but when it worked out... IT WORKED OUT! =)

modeling photo shoots have that look created with fans on purpose. we had it without intent. but i'm glad in retrospect!!

Just gorgeous! Love these pictures. The one with the skyline in the background is probably my favorite. Excellent processing too! Love the black and white creamy color :)

thank you, amanda! i think that one is my favorite, too. although, it's difficult to pick one. they were so photogenic for every shot. it made it hard to choose which ones to process. that's why it's taking me forever! i am processing so many... then they can choose their faves. =)

thank you, naomi! =)

the nice thing with them is that i did not have to tell them to pose or look like they love each other. they did that pose and all the others completely on their own. all i had to do was make sure i caught it on camera!
